NEAR and Ondo bring tokenized US stocks onchain

The two platforms have launched trading of tokenized equities and ETFs, linking NEAR's blockchain infrastructure to conventional securities markets.
NEAR has begun offering tokenized stock trading in partnership with Ondo Finance, a move intended to link traditional financial instruments with blockchain-based settlement. The offering brings tokenized versions of US stocks and ETFs onto NEAR's network, according to leviathan.news, with the aim of giving users a new way to access familiar equity markets through crypto rails.
The integration reportedly relies on a confidential account feature, which would let users trade these tokenized assets while keeping transaction details shielded. NEAR's broader stack already includes a "Confidential Mode" that lets trades execute inside a private shard rather than in the open, suggesting the Ondo product taps into that existing privacy-preserving infrastructure rather than building a separate system from scratch.
The partnership was also flagged directly by NEAR's official account, positioning the launch as part of NEAR's push to connect decentralized infrastructure with conventional finance. NEAR has positioned itself as unifying liquidity across more than 35 chains and 150 assets through a single interface, with cross-chain execution handled by NEAR Intents, a system that has processed $19 billion in volume to date and counts wallets and DeFi platforms such as Ledger, Brave Wallet, Infinex, ThorSwap, and HOT Wallet among its integrators.
Two sources have covered the launch, both describing it as an effort to widen the range of assets available onchain by folding equities and ETFs into NEAR's existing trading environment. The move follows a pattern of NEAR integrations spanning finance and public infrastructure, including a confidential AI deployment with the Government of Bermuda and private inference partnerships with Brave and Venice AI.
What remains unclear is the scale of the tokenized stock offering at launch โ including which specific equities or ETFs are available, trading volumes, and whether the confidential account feature will be optional or a default setting for users. Also unaddressed is how the tokenized shares are custodied or backed, and whether additional exchanges or wallets will add support for the Ondo-issued assets in the near term.
