b14g team offers 10% bounty for return of remaining CORE after October 31 exploit
Security & Exploits ·
An onchain message sent to the attacker's address proposes a whitehat recovery deal for stolen funds still outstanding after a hard fork clawback.
The b14g team sent an onchain message to an address identified as 0x911c3bf11dfc5497a53a7a04ff7980532516f176, addressing an October 31 exploit that involved approximately 97M CORE belonging to b14g users. According to the message, 68.15M CORE has already been recovered through the Core hard fork, leaving a significant amount still outstanding and unaccounted for.
In the communication, the team proposed a whitehat recovery reward of 10% of any additional stolen funds voluntarily returned, with the sender permitted to retain that share and forward the remaining 90% to a designated Core Network recovery address. The message also included a separate Ethereum network address in case any of the stolen assets had already been converted into ETH or USDT, asking the recipient to confirm the correct network before any such transfer.
The offer carries a deadline of November 6, 2026, 23:59 UTC, after which the terms described in the message were not specified to remain available. The b14g team indicated willingness to discuss confidentiality and unspecified legal assurances as part of what it called a cooperative resolution, and provided an email address and a Blockscan Chat contact as alternative channels for the recipient to respond privately.
The appeal follows the earlier recovery of 68.15M CORE via the Core hard fork, a development distinct from the direct outreach to the exploiter, with distribution of those recovered tokens to affected users still pending. Together, the hard fork recovery and the direct bounty offer represent two separate tracks the b14g team is pursuing to retrieve the roughly 97M CORE taken in the exploit.
What remains unresolved is whether the recipient of the message will engage with the proposed terms, how much of the outstanding balance beyond the 68.15M already recovered might still be converted or moved, and when or how the recovered tokens will be distributed back to affected b14g users. The November 6, 2026 deadline marks the next point at which the outcome of this direct appeal should become clearer.
