Chainalysis attributed the $387 million Bitget exchange hack from September 24 to North Korea-linked actors, bringing Pyongyang's 2026 crypto theft total past $1 billion. The stolen funds moved across four blockchains—Ethereum, XRP, Zcash, and Tron—within three hours through 23 transfers, with attackers subsequently routing money through cross-chain protocols and laundering services to obscure the trail. Chainalysis said it used in-house AI to accelerate fund tracing across the blockchains, compressing what would have taken over 20 hours of manual work into under 10 minutes, while maintaining human oversight of the investigation.
