Coinkite released new Coldcard firmware following a $130 million Bitcoin exploit that stemmed from a seed-generation flaw dating to 2021. The updated firmware requires users to add randomness during wallet seed generation through key presses, dice rolls, or coin flips, and patches security issues identified during a three-week review that involved outside security researchers. The review also uncovered vulnerabilities in transaction signing, USB connections, backups, and other wallet functions.
