Ledger Drainer exploit confirmed to have stolen over $80M from users.
Security & Exploits ·
A scheme known as Ledger Drainer has stolen over $80M, according to tracking data. The theft targeted users in South East Asia who purchased hardware wallets through a reseller operating under the name CryptoBillis. Ledger has begun an investigation into the unauthorized fund transfers and instructed CryptoBillis to halt all sales and shipments of its devices as a precautionary measure.
The company is recommending that customers who acquired Ledger hardware from this reseller within the past 90 days avoid initializing their devices if they have not yet done so. For those who have already set up their wallets, Ledger suggests transferring assets to a newly created wallet with a fresh seed phrase. The exact mechanism by which the drainer compromised the devices remains under investigation.
Ledger has committed to providing further updates as its probe advances and directed affected users to contact its support team through official channels. The scope of the investigation and whether additional resellers or distribution points were involved have not yet been disclosed.
