After the initial exploit, the attacker liquidated 2,327 ETH at roughly $1,695 per unit, then reversed course and re-accumulated 2,063 ETH at an average of $1,912 each—a sequence that resulted in a $505,000 loss across 264 ETH.
The June attack leveraged deceptive tactics, including fabricated liquidity pools and counterfeit tokens, to compromise the automated sandwich bot. The team immediately responded with a 50% bounty conditional on restitution within 48 hours, alongside warnings of legal escalation. No funds have been returned.
The attacker's market-timing misstep—buying back at prices substantially higher than the original sale—suggests either miscalculated speculation or urgency to re-enter exposure. The precise motivation for the reversal remains unexplained, and the hacker's identity has not been disclosed.
