Ostium launches Gateway, a rebuilt institutional liquidity layer for RWA perpetuals, as part of recovery efforts following a $23.75M exploit.
Security & Exploits ·
Ostium has announced Gateway, a rebuilt liquidity layer designed to serve institutional traders and venues in real-world asset perpetuals, as part of its recovery plan following a $23.75M exploit of its liquidity vault. The new system is engineered to replace the original Ostium infrastructure with faster execution, unified margin accounting, and enhanced security architecture.
The original Ostium platform, launched in 2022, helped establish RWA perpetuals as a major product category—reaching over $370 million in protocol open interest with nearly 90% in real-world assets—but operated with institutional-grade limitations including execution latency exceeding one second, on-chain pricing constraints, and insufficient API reliability. Gateway addresses these gaps by offering a whitelisted API layer providing sub-100 millisecond pricing execution and sub-500 millisecond on-chain settlement, off-chain pricing mechanisms for competitive quoting, and stablecoin-native cross-margining with built-in anomaly detection. The platform sources liquidity through market makers, external venues, and its own backstop rather than operating as a peer-to-peer order book.
According to Ostium's announcement, Gateway targets venues, family offices, and professional traders seeking institutional-grade access to global market perpetuals through a single integration, with the existing Ostium app continuing operation for current users. The timeline for Gateway's live deployment and full scope of the OLP recovery plan remain unspecified in available statements.
