Syndicate protocol on Base network suffered a bridge compromise exploit; team investigating.
Security & Exploits ·
An exploit targeting Syndicate on the Base network has been identified involving a compromise of the Commons bridge. According to security firm CertiK, an attacker acquired approximately 18.5 million SYND tokens through the breach and subsequently sold them for roughly $330,000, with the proceeds bridged to Ethereum. The compromised address and transaction details have been made visible on public blockchain explorers.
The attack demonstrates a vulnerability in the cross-chain bridge infrastructure connecting Base to other networks. The relatively rapid conversion and transfer of the stolen funds to Ethereum suggests the attacker moved quickly to extract value across chains, potentially complicating recovery efforts.
The Syndicate team has acknowledged the incident and is investigating the bridge compromise. Key questions remain unresolved, including the precise technical vector that enabled the breach, whether additional tokens or user assets were affected, and what remediation steps will be implemented to prevent similar incidents.
