BharatLiquid is building a bridge to bring Hyperliquid to India, addressing local trading premiums.
Tech & Launches ·
BharatLiquid is building a bridge to connect Hyperliquid to India's market, seeking to address trading premiums that have emerged as a result of friction in accessing the platform from the region. The initiative reflects India's position as a significant but constrained crypto market, where regulatory compliance requirements and local trading conditions create structural barriers to seamless participation in global protocols. India's crypto landscape has become increasingly consequential: the country ranks among the top five nations by user adoption, yet faces punitive 30% taxation, strict Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) compliance mandates, and a regulatory environment where offshore exchanges must register locally or face access restrictions.
Bridge infrastructure has emerged as a practical response to India's multi-layered market friction. BharatLiquid's approach targets the premium pricing that develops when traders face friction accessing global venues, effectively arbitraging the gap between onchain global prices and local trading demand. Such bridges allow domestic users to participate in protocols like Hyperliquid without requiring direct offshore registration, sidestepping some compliance and capital-flow bottlenecks.
The sustainability of this model remains unclear. India's regulatory posture toward offshore protocols and bridge infrastructure has not been formally tested at scale, and the FIU's enforcement approach to VDA intermediation continues to evolve. Whether BharatLiquid's structure satisfies local compliance expectations or faces similar pressure as earlier offshore exchanges is not yet determined.
