Bitwise has launched "Automated Token Portfolios," a product that allows eligible non-US users to automatically replicate professionally curated investment themes through self-custody wallets. The offering, built on Coinbase's tokenized equities infrastructure and executed through Glider, includes portfolio options focused on Magnificent Seven stocks, artificial intelligence, and robotics.
The service operates with a fee of 0.15%, positioning itself as a lower-cost alternative to traditional managed accounts while preserving users' direct asset custody. By removing the intermediary custodian, the product eliminates counterparty risk at the wallet level—a meaningful distinction in tokenized finance where custody models continue to drive adoption decisions.
Outstanding questions include how liquidity will perform during market stress, whether regulatory frameworks will evolve to accommodate this model across additional jurisdictions, and how the product scales among retail participants. Coinbase's existing tokenized equities infrastructure provides a foundation, but real-world usage patterns and regulatory treatment remain to be tested at meaningful transaction volumes.
