Bullish has agreed to acquire Equiniti, a global transfer agent serving nearly 3,000 public companies including Berkshire Hathaway and Moody's, for approximately $4.2 billion including debt, according to the Wall Street Journal. The acquisition positions the crypto exchange to expand into infrastructure for tokenized securities and digital asset settlement.
The combined entity plans to offer corporate issuers end-to-end tokenization services, centered on 24/7 trading of securities and stablecoin-based payment and settlement mechanisms. Equiniti's existing client base and transfer agent operations provide the operational backbone for these services at scale. The deal represents a significant move by Bullish into the real-world asset tokenization space.
The transaction is expected to close in January 2027, contingent on regulatory approvals. Key operational and integration details remain undisclosed, as does confirmation of how Equiniti's current service model and client relationships will transition under Bullish ownership.
