Centrifuge expands its digital transfer agency to enable full onchain fund lifecycle management.
Tech & Launches ·
Centrifuge has expanded its digital transfer agency capabilities to enable comprehensive onchain fund lifecycle management, positioning itself as infrastructure for institutional asset tokenization across multiple blockchains. The protocol allows asset managers to bring bonds, credit instruments, and equities into programmable vaults that integrate with DeFi markets while maintaining offchain compliance structures. Centrifuge reports more than $2 billion in tokenized assets onchain and operates a hub-and-spoke multi-chain architecture backed by institutional partners including Coinbase.
The expansion reflects accelerating institutional adoption of real-world asset tokenization. Tokenized RWAs are approaching approximately $20 billion in aggregate value, with some market participants projecting the market could surpass $100 billion by end of 2026. Recent developments include Base launching tokenized S&P 500 exposure via Centrifuge, Kraken enabling qualified custody of Centrifuge-tokenized bonds for institutional collateral, and New York Life's asset manager launching a tokenized high-yield bond fund on the protocol.
The extent to which the expanded transfer agency functionality enhances capital efficiency for asset managers or attracts new institutional issuers to the platform remains to be seen. The competitive landscape includes other RWA infrastructure providers like Ondo, Canton, Rayls, and Polymesh, each pursuing different approaches to bringing traditional assets onchain.
