Crypto gaming project Illuvium reports 12 months of runway remaining after raising $130M to date.
Tech & Launches ·
Illuvium, a crypto gaming project, has extended its operational runway to over 12 months following cost reductions across the studio, according to an update from leadership. The studio achieved this runway extension through several months of expense cuts, including wage reductions accepted by team members. The project has raised approximately $130 million to date and now has a streamlined team primarily focused on developing its MMO product, with most members having worked there for over three years.
Illuvium plans multiple product launches this year to generate revenue and engagement, including the final Celebrations collection for its Set 1 NFT release, Beyond Chaos, Primal Tactica, and Loadout. Primal Tactica, developed by a licensed independent studio, is nearing completion and will debut at Steam Next Fest in October. Loadout is approaching a launch date announcement and will distribute tokens to the Illuvium staking contract to incentivize users to stake ILV and ILV-ETH tokens again.
The project's core MMO game, referred to as Overworld, remains in final testing phases. While leadership expressed increased confidence in the project's trajectory, the path to sustained profitability and whether these product launches will generate sufficient revenue to extend runway beyond the current 12-month window remain to be demonstrated.
