Elysium testnet launches as a general-purpose chain built for Hyperliquid, settling to HyperEVM.
Tech & Launches ·
Elysium, a general-purpose blockchain built specifically for Hyperliquid, has launched its testnet. The chain is designed to settle transactions on HyperEVM, the custom consensus layer underlying Hyperliquid's on-chain perpetual futures exchange.
Hyperliquid operates a central limit order book entirely on-chain by running its own Layer-1 blockchain with HyperBFT consensus, achieving block times in the low-millisecond range to enable fast financial matching. The platform launched perpetual futures in 2023 and added spot markets in 2024. By building Elysium as a dedicated chain for the exchange, developers aim to further optimize throughput and latency for trading operations while maintaining the settlement guarantees of HyperEVM.
The testnet launch marks an early stage of Elysium's development. Details on validator participation, mainnet timeline, and specific performance targets remain unclear at this stage.
