The Interfold has launched Network Alpha on mainnet, introducing a production environment for private computation on sensitive data without relying on trusted hardware. The system uses ephemeral Encrypted Execution Environments (E3s) paired with ciphernode committees to manage distributed key generation and threshold decryption, producing publicly verifiable outputs. The FOLD token has entered its network phase following a successful transferability call, functioning as a bond for ciphernode operators and as a governance token.
Network Alpha operates by having participants submit encrypted inputs into an E3, which routes computation through a compute provider while keeping data encrypted throughout. Ciphernode committees collectively establish encryption keys during this process, with no single operator holding the complete decryption key. Once computation finishes, decryption requires a protocol-defined threshold of ciphernode shares to recover the result—preventing any individual node from unilaterally decrypting outputs.
The system enables E3 creation permissionlessly for supported computations and coordinates the full lifecycle on-chain, moving the protocol from development into active network operation.
