MagpieXYZ slashed bug bounty payouts by 75% across all severity tiers, reducing max critical reward from $200K to $50K.

MagpieXYZ has reduced the maximum payout for its bug bounty program to $50,000, down from a previous cap of $200,000—a 75% decrease across all severity tiers. The revision also lowered critical-level rewards and resulted in combined reductions totaling $191,000 across the program's three tiers, according to the platform's bounty listing.
The yield-boosting platform, which operates on BNB Chain and maximizes governance benefits for veTokenomics protocols, now caps critical smart contract vulnerabilities at $50,000 while maintaining a minimum reward floor at that same level. High-severity smart contract reports carry a separate cap of 20% of economic damage with a USD 5,000 floor, and all critical submissions must include proof of concept and a suggested fix to qualify for consideration.
The reasons for the reduction—whether driven by risk reassessment, budget constraints, or other factors—have not been disclosed. The full scope of affected vulnerability classifications and any changes to non-smart-contract bounty tiers remain to be detailed by the MagpieXYZ team.
