Maybank's tokenized Singapore dollar money market fund launches on Synthesys Network.

Maybank's tokenized Singapore dollar money market fund has launched on Synthesys Network, expanding the institutional push into tokenized money market funds. The product enables digital issuance and transfer of fund shares as blockchain tokens while maintaining the yield and credit profile of traditional cash-management vehicles.
Tokenized money market funds pool investor capital into short-duration, high-quality assets—typically Treasury bills and repurchase agreements—and issue shares as digital tokens on a blockchain rather than through conventional ledgers. This structure allows permissioned holders to trade and settle near-instantly while satisfying securities law through KYC and accreditation checks. The tokens represent legal ownership mapped one-to-one to underlying fund shares, with yield reaching holders through rebasing mechanisms or periodic distributions.
The Maybank offering joins a growing ecosystem of institutional tokenized yield products launched by firms including JPMorgan and BNP Paribas. It remains unclear how much capital has been seeded in the fund or what uptake is expected among Singapore-based qualified investors on the Synthesys Network specifically.
