Polygon Labs disclosed that its Austin hard fork on the Bor client and Kyoto hard fork on Heimdall closed denial-of-service vulnerabilities and consensus flaws through quiet deployment before public announcement. The patches addressed block processing attacks where malicious producers could crash peer nodes, and a more critical flaw allowing a single transaction to impose costly coordinated work on all validators. Polygon confirmed none of the issues were exploited on mainnet and that both upgrades are now mandatory and active across the network.
