Robinhood Chain launched with $200M TVL in its first week, driven by CASHCAT meme coin popularity, but faces scrutiny over tokenized securities compliance and sustainability.

Robinhood Chain, an Arbitrum-based Layer 2 network launched in early July, accumulated over $200 million in total value locked within its first week, with social media discourse around the project dominating conversation since late Monday. The network's initial attention, however, centered not on its tokenized stocks and ETFs but on the CASHCAT meme coin, which generated outsized engagement after a trader reportedly converted $800 into more than $1 million. The surge coincided with nearly 200,000 active addresses and over 140,000 first-time users on the chain.
Robinhood's core offering combines tokenized real-world assets, DeFi protocols, and on-chain financial services, with Stock Tokens providing economic exposure to equities across more than 120 countries. The network's appeal rests partly on accessibility through existing retail infrastructure, wallet integrations, and low fees that eliminate some friction typical of crypto-native ecosystems.
Questions about the chain's staying power have surfaced among observers. Skeptics point to concerns including failed transactions, bot-driven activity, and liquidity concentration, along with the fact that Stock Tokens represent tokenized debt securities rather than actual ownership of shares. Whether the platform can sustain momentum once meme coin speculation declines remains uncertain.
