Robinhood Chain's early trading activity is dominated by meme coins rather than the tokenized stocks it was designed for.

Since its debut two weeks ago, Robinhood Chain has generated $3.1 billion in decentralized exchange volume over seven days, but meme coins have dominated early trading activity rather than the tokenized stocks the Ethereum layer-2 network was designed to support. Cash Cat, a meme coin with a $150 million market cap, has emerged as the network's most valuable asset, while around 65,000 users hold approximately $13 million in stock tokens across over 120 countries outside the U.S.
Analysts at Bernstein noted the meme-coin surge reflects strong liquidity and engagement from crypto-native traders, even as Robinhood Chain ranked among the top five on-chain trading destinations. The discrepancy highlights tension between the retail brokerage's year-long development push for tokenized equities and actual user behavior in the network's opening weeks.
Robinhood has signaled plans to expand beyond tokenized assets through partnerships with decentralized finance protocols, including Morpho for lending and Lighter for perpetual futures. The company's stock price has climbed 19% over the past month, though whether early chain momentum translates to sustained adoption of the platform's intended core offerings remains unclear.
