Solana Foundation launches DvP settlement standard with J.P. Morgan input

The open-source Delivery-vs-Payment program is built to let institutions settle transactions atomically on Solana, with a production release still ahead.
The Solana Foundation has introduced a new Delivery-vs-Payment, or DvP, standard aimed at atomic onchain settlement, developed with input from J.P. Morgan, according to solana.com. The open-source program is designed to let institutions settle transactions where delivery of an asset and payment occur simultaneously, removing the gap where one leg of a trade could fail while the other completes, as described by decrypt.co. A production release is still ahead, meaning the standard remains in a pre-launch phase as it moves toward broader institutional use.
The initiative sits within the Solana Foundation's wider mandate to advance adoption, decentralization, and security across the Solana ecosystem, a mission carried out from its base as a non-profit organized in Zug, Switzerland, per leviathan.news. That mandate has increasingly extended toward institutional finance and real-time payments, areas the network's high throughput and low latency are positioned to serve. DvP's atomic settlement model is meant to reduce counterparty risk for financial institutions transacting onchain, a use case the Foundation has been building toward alongside its broader DeFi and infrastructure work.
The DvP launch arrives alongside other recent Foundation-led efforts to deepen institutional and technical infrastructure. These include a partnership with Triton One to rebuild Solana's read layer with modular accounts and ledger systems for faster data access, and a collaboration with Google Cloud on Pay.sh, which lets AI agents pay for APIs using stablecoins. The Foundation has also signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea's Toss Bank to explore blockchain-based cross-border remittances and settlements, and separately lent USDT to Aave to address a liquidity crunch as that protocol launched on Solana mainnet.
What remains unclear is the exact timeline for DvP's production release and which institutions beyond J.P. Morgan's advisory input will adopt the standard once it is live. It is also not yet specified how DvP will interoperate with the other institutional and payments initiatives the Foundation has rolled out in parallel, including Pay.sh and the Toss Bank remittance pilot. Further detail on production readiness and institutional onboarding is expected as the program advances.
