A routing misconfiguration at hosting provider Teraswitch took 28.83% of staked SOL offline early Wednesday, bringing Solana within 4.51 percentage points of its 33.34% finality threshold—or roughly 86% of the way to a network halt. A single autonomous system, AS20326, held 27.34% of all staked SOL, exceeding the 25% cap intended to prevent concentration risk, and 94% of its stake went dark simultaneously. Around 90 validators lost a combined 333 SOL in rewards during the 33-minute outage, with Marinade Finance analysis revealing that concentration risks extend beyond single hosting providers, affecting finality resilience across the network.
