Chainlink oracles go live on Stellar network
Tech & Launches ·
Chainlink's Data Feeds and Data Streams are now active on Stellar mainnet, extending price infrastructure to a real-world-asset ecosystem valued at $4B.
The launch was funded through Chainlink Scale, with the Stellar Development Foundation backing the integration, according to a post on X. Data Feeds and Data Streams are two distinct Chainlink products: the former delivers aggregated price updates on a scheduled or deviation-triggered basis, while the latter is built for lower-latency, higher-frequency data needs. Their availability on Stellar gives smart contracts on the network a mechanism to reference external prices without relying on a single data source.
The integration matters for Stellar's RWA ecosystem because tokenized assets — bonds, credit instruments, or other real-world claims — require continuous, trustworthy valuation to function in lending markets, collateral systems, or settlement logic. Oracles are the layer that makes this possible by aggregating signed observations from multiple independent nodes and publishing a computed result on-chain, rather than trusting one feed or operator. Without that structure, a single compromised or inaccurate data source could propagate incorrect values directly into financial contracts.
The news arrived as XLM, Stellar's native token, fell 7.85% to $0.19, a move that occurred alongside the oracle rollout rather than as a result of it, based on available information.
Chainlink's price-feed architecture has become a widely adopted pattern across networks, but it is not without precedent for failure elsewhere. Separate incidents in the broader oracle space — including exploits tied to other providers' verifier systems and feed configurations — have resulted in losses reaching into the millions of dollars on other protocols, underscoring why aggregation, signature verification, and outlier filtering are treated as baseline requirements rather than optional safeguards.
What remains unclear is how quickly Stellar-based RWA protocols will adopt the new feeds, what specific assets or markets will be the first to integrate them, and whether additional funding or expansion through Chainlink Scale is planned. The relationship between the oracle launch and XLM's price movement on the same day also has not been established.
