TACEO launches Merces, a privacy layer for onchain finance with integrations to banking infrastructure, asset managers, and cross-chain protocols.

TACEO has launched Merces, a privacy layer for onchain finance, now running on mainnet with real funds deployed on Monad and World Chain. The system already integrates with banking infrastructure via IntellectEU's CatalyX, asset managers including Orion Finance for confidential vaults, and cross-chain protocols such as LayerZero for private transfers and Zenith for private shared state on Canton.
Merces enables full transaction privacy by hiding both amounts and accounts through secret-sharing across the TACEO Network, with financial logic executed via multiparty computation that produces a zero-knowledge proof verified on-chain. The system enforces compliance screening before execution, supports shared state for eligibility and yield distribution, and achieves 1,000 transactions per second. Its multiparty computation core is post-quantum resistant, and the protocol can deploy on any blockchain while leaving assets and wallets unchanged on their host chains.
TACEO, spun from TU Graz in July 2022 by cryptographers whose research underpins Poseidon and SPHINCS+, previously secured over 18 million users across identity and iris-code applications in 160 countries. The team spent two years developing Merces before launch. The protocol is now running live on Monad and World Chain, with testnet deployments on Arc, Base, Ethereum, Plasma and Stable, and documentation available at docs.taceo.io.
