Technical post on claiming a pre-Bedrock Optimism withdrawal; appears to be development notes or research documentation.

Two developers successfully recovered 0.13 ETH from an Optimism withdrawal that had remained unclaimed since July 2022, documented in technical notes posted on X. The funds originated from officercia.eth and predated Optimism's June 2023 Bedrock upgrade, meaning they did not surface in modern bridge interfaces yet remained accessible through direct on-chain claiming.
The recovery required understanding how the upgrade converted legacy withdrawal formats. The original L2CrossDomainMessenger event with nonce 107554 and 0.13 ETH was migrated into the L2ToL1MessagePasser predeploy under the new architecture. After Upgrade 20 deployed on Ethereum in September 2026, the withdrawal could be proven against a resolved dispute game (index 20128, status DEFENDER_WINS) by assembling an OutputRootProof from the block's state root, message-passer storage root via archive node query, and block hash, then validating a six-node Merkle-Patricia proof. The proveWithdrawalTransaction call succeeded on September 30, 2026, followed by finalizeWithdrawalTransaction after the seven-day maturity delay on October 7, 2026.
The developers highlighted that pre-Bedrock withdrawals remain claimable despite their age, that every step must anchor to on-chain invariants like sentMessages storage and root-claim matching, and that deployed contract ABIs on explorers can serve as authoritative references when documentation trails protocol changes. They donated proceeds to the creators of stuckfunds.eth.limo.
