Solana Treasury DeFi Development Corp seeks $20M raise to accumulate additional SOL for its treasury.
VC & Fundraising ·
DeFi Development Corp., a Nasdaq-listed company, is pursuing a preferred stock offering designed to raise approximately $20 million for additional SOL purchases. The firm recently acquired 19,000 SOL tokens at an average price of $98.14, bringing its total holdings to about 2.33 million SOL and equivalents, according to reporting from Decrypt. CEO Joseph Onorati indicated that the bulk of proceeds from the sale of 2.2 million preferred shares at $9 each would be directed toward accumulating more SOL.
The company operates as a treasury strategy vehicle centered on SOL accumulation and staking. DeFi Development Corp. runs its own Solana validators, which generate staking rewards and fees from delegated tokens, and participates in decentralized finance projects built on the network. The prospectus filing identifies several possible uses for the capital, including working capital, digital asset investments, and strategic initiatives, though the specific allocation remains unspecified.
The stock offering—if completed—would expand the company's capacity to execute its SOL acquisition strategy. It remains unclear how quickly or at what price points the company intends to deploy the new capital once raised.
