Circle launches Agent Marketplace on Arc, enabling AI agents to pay per-call services directly in USDC.
AI & Agents ·
Circle has launched an Agent Marketplace on Arc, its stablecoin-native blockchain, enabling AI agents to access pay-per-call services with direct USDC settlement. The marketplace allows autonomous systems to interact with services on-chain while handling micropayments in Circle's stablecoin without friction from volatile gas tokens.
Arc is Circle's EVM-compatible layer-1 designed around predictable USDC-denominated fees and institutional payment infrastructure. By embedding stablecoin settlement into the chain's base layer rather than treating it as an application built on top, the network simplifies the operational stack for transactions, currency conversion, and tokenized-asset settlement. The Agent Marketplace extends this logic to autonomous systems, removing intermediaries and enabling machines to transact directly in dollars.
Whether the marketplace will attract meaningful agent traffic or developer adoption remains unclear. The success of pay-per-call services in USDC depends on whether the economics of on-chain microtransactions prove more efficient than traditional off-chain alternatives, and whether the concentration of governance and validator incentives under Circle's control can sustain sufficient decentralization to maintain developer confidence.
