Blur will cease matching new Blend loans and shut down its frontend on November 12, requiring all borrowers to repay or face defaults.

Blur announced on October 12, 2026, that it will deprecate its frontend and halt new loan matching through Blend, its peer-to-peer lending protocol, on November 12, 2026. Borrowers must repay outstanding loans or allow them to default by that date; after the cutoff, Blur plans to provide a separate tool for withdrawing assets from Blend. The marketplace protocol itself will remain operational onchain, and $BLUR token holders will retain governance of the protocol's fee switch.
Blend was designed as a perpetual lending system for arbitrary collateral, including NFTs, with no oracle dependency or fixed expiry dates. Loans continue only while at least one lender is willing to finance the debt; if no lender accepts during a refinancing auction at its maximum rate, the position is liquidated. Individual lenders set interest rates and loan-to-value ratios through offchain offers rather than relying on a shared price feed.
The separation of interface from contract leaves the core mechanics unresolved for active borrowers. The repay-or-default deadline compresses timelines for those seeking to refinance or exit positions, while the promised withdrawal tool remains unreleased, leaving borrowers uncertain about the mechanics and timing of asset recovery after November 12.
