Coinbase's integration of Deribit has upgraded the matching engine to deliver 50–60x faster performance, according to Luuk Strijers, the exchange's Head of International Derivatives. The unified derivatives platform, launched on October 1, combines Coinbase's institutional distribution network with Deribit's specialized trading infrastructure, while expansion into equity, commodity, and pre-IPO perpetual futures is underway with institutional demand exceeding expectations in some areas. Deribit's notional open interest has recovered to approximately $50 billion following the integration, continuing to grow even as Bitcoin's price declined in October.
