At the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium 2026 on August 19, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao discussed the Trump administration's regulatory efforts around decentralized derivatives trading. According to CZ, President Trump indicated that CFTC Chairman Michael Selig was engaged in work to authorize Hyperliquid's entry into U.S. markets, potentially establishing a regulatory framework for decentralized perpetual exchanges in the country.
CZ characterized the move as beneficial beyond a single platform. Should regulators approve this model domestically, he suggested that additional perpetual DEXs and decentralized services would likely gain the ability to operate in the U.S., alongside potential gains for international spot exchanges through expanded American liquidity pools and improved pricing for market participants.
What remains unclear is the timeline for approval, the specific regulatory conditions under which such platforms would operate, and whether other jurisdictions might follow a comparable approach should the U.S. pathway succeed.
