Ethena is phasing out USDe token incentives, which have already declined 85% and will reach zero by month-end.

Ethena has announced the phase-out of token incentives tied to USDe growth, which have already declined by roughly 85 percent since the initial airdrop in 2024. By the end of this month, these incentives will reach zero, eliminating all associated inflation going forward.
The reduction reflects a shift in Ethena's approach to bootstrap the protocol. Token-based rewards were used to encourage early adoption and growth of USDe, but the protocol is now moving away from this model as it seeks to sustain the product without ongoing inflationary measures.
The announcement amounts to a formal end to incentive-driven expansion for USDe. What remains unclear is how the absence of token rewards will affect adoption rates and demand for the stablecoin in the coming months, or whether Ethena plans alternative mechanisms to maintain growth momentum.
