Hyperliquid has burned nearly 5% of HYPE supply
DeFi & Yields ·
The protocol has permanently removed 49.87 million HYPE tokens from circulation, worth roughly $3.89 billion, as its revenue-driven burn mechanism continues to shrink available supply.
The burn total represents 4.99% of HYPE's 1 billion token maximum supply, according to figures shared on X. In the past 24 hours alone, the protocol burned 19.7K HYPE, valued at approximately $1.59 million, with estimated fees over that same period reaching $1.69 million. Lifetime revenue for Hyperliquid now stands at $1.38 billion, the figure that has funded the token destruction since inception.
The mechanism ties the burn rate directly to protocol activity: fees generated by the platform are converted into token buybacks and burns, meaning the pace of supply reduction tracks fee income rather than following a fixed schedule. That link between usage and scarcity is central to the bullish framing around the nearly-5%-burned milestone, though sustaining it depends on fee generation holding at or near current levels.
Separate data cited in the same report shows Hyperliquid leading all protocols in holder revenue over the trailing 30 days, with $63.94 million generated, ahead of Papertrade at $60.68 million, Pump at $28.55 million, and Tron at $23.32 million. Other platforms further down the list include Aero, Uniswap, Sky, StonkFun, Ethereum, and GMX, each generating between roughly $4.6 million and $7.7 million over the same window. The ranking underscores that the burn is being funded by revenue that currently outpaces a broad set of competing protocols.
The $3.89 billion figure and the 4.99% supply-burn milestone are also reflected in separate reporting, which frames the cumulative $1.38 billion in protocol revenue as the source of the buyback-and-burn activity to date.
What remains unclear is whether the current pace of daily burns and fee generation will hold going forward, since the approach to the 5% threshold is explicitly described as contingent on fee income continuing at the reported rate. Whether Hyperliquid can sustain its lead in 30-day holder revenue against Papertrade and Pump, both of which posted figures within range of Hyperliquid's own, is also unresolved.
