Hyperliquid's July volume tops rival perpetual DEXs combined
DeFi & Yields ·
Data from CryptoRank places Hyperliquid's July perpetual trading volume at $218 billion, ahead of the $189 billion posted jointly by the next seven largest platforms in the category.
The gap illustrates how much activity remains clustered around a single venue even as the broader perpetual DEX sector contracted. According to figures cited in a report from WuBlockchain, the combined volume of the top eight platforms dropped by roughly $85 billion, or 17%, compared with the prior month.
Among the smaller players, Aster recorded about $43.6 billion in volume, Lighter came in near $36.4 billion, and GRVT reached approximately $34.4 billion. None approached Hyperliquid's total individually, and even summed together with the remaining competitors, their combined figure still trailed Hyperliquid's single-platform result by $29 billion.
The pattern points to continued concentration of derivatives trading on one exchange rather than a broad-based expansion across the sector. A separate account of the same period, circulating within the same cluster of reporting, similarly noted that Hyperliquid's monthly volume outpaced the sum of all competing decentralized futures exchanges, reinforcing the scale of the disparity.
What remains unclear is whether the July decline in aggregate volume reflects a temporary pullback in derivatives trading broadly or a more lasting drop-off among the smaller platforms. It is also not established from the available data whether Hyperliquid's share of the market grew because rivals lost volume, because Hyperliquid gained new activity, or some combination of both. Subsequent monthly figures from CryptoRank would help clarify whether the concentration seen in July persists or whether trading volume redistributes toward other perpetual DEXs in the months ahead.
