KaspaDollar launches a 5 million KAS fundraiser to build the first decentralized stablecoin protocol on the Kaspa blockchain.

KaspaDollar, an initiative led by core developer @asaefstroem, has launched a 5 million KAS fundraiser to build the first decentralized stablecoin protocol on the Kaspa network. The project addresses what its organizers describe as a gap in Kaspa's ecosystem: while recent developments around the Toccata hardfork have expanded the network's capabilities, decentralized finance applications remain dependent on stablecoins issued elsewhere. A native unit of account that maintains stable value is needed to reduce that dependency.
The proposed design follows the decentralized, overcollateralized stablecoin model, a pattern tested across the broader crypto industry. The fundraiser aims to cover development, independent audit, research, and operational costs required to move the protocol from specification to production. Contributions are sent directly to an address published on the project's website, with a deadline of January 1, 2027 for reaching the target; any unmet contributions will be returned to their source addresses.
The initiative has backing from Kaspa's core team. What remains unclear is the specific timeline for protocol development milestones, the audit scope and timeline, and how the raised funds will be allocated among the listed work categories.
