Katherine Wu has joined Open Standard to lead development of the OUSD stablecoin. Wu brings nine years of experience in the crypto industry, including prior roles at ENS Labs and Archetype. In her announcement, she emphasized that stablecoins are poised to become core global payment infrastructure but identified structural design problems limiting their current utility for commerce and exchange.
OUSD is built around three stated principles: neutral governance, no mint or burn fees, and user and partner economic participation. Wu described the vision as rooted in reciprocity rather than extraction, positioning the stablecoin as a settlement and cash layer for the online economy. She framed the effort as addressing how stablecoins can achieve greater adoption and economic viability across goods and services.
Wu has opened direct communication with businesses currently integrating or considering stablecoins. The broader competitive and regulatory landscape for OUSD within the stablecoin market remains unspecified.
