MIM stablecoin depegged to $0.50; Abracadabra paused incentives to restore peg.
DeFi & Yields ·
The MIM stablecoin has depegged significantly, trading at $0.50 according to Abracadabra's official announcement. In response, Abracadabra initiated emergency measures to restore the peg, including gradually raising interest rates across all Cauldrons to encourage debt repayment and contract the MIM supply. The protocol also suspended direct incentives and Curve bribes temporarily until the stablecoin returns to peg.
The depeg itself creates a built-in incentive for borrowers to repay outstanding debt at a discount, which Abracadabra identified as accelerating supply contraction and supporting recovery. The interest-rate increases are intended to reinforce this mechanism by making debt repayment more attractive relative to holding MIM at the depressed price.
Abracadabra indicated that additional recovery initiatives are under evaluation but did not specify what those measures entail or provide a timeline for the peg's restoration. The extent and duration of the depeg, and whether the announced actions prove sufficient to reestablish confidence and liquidity, remain unclear.
