Non-USD stablecoins have expanded 50-fold since 2020, rising from $44 million to $2.2 billion and reaching all-time highs, according to market data. Despite this growth, they remain a small segment relative to dollar-denominated stablecoins, which continue to dominate the broader stablecoin ecosystem.
The expansion has been led by euro-denominated stablecoins, which gained momentum following the implementation of MiCA regulations. The yen, Brazilian real, and Singapore dollar stablecoins have also contributed to the growth in non-USD alternatives.
The sustained climb to all-time highs suggests increasing demand for stablecoins pegged to currencies other than the US dollar, though the absolute market size indicates the category remains in early adoption relative to its dollar-based counterparts. Whether this growth trajectory will persist or stabilize at a particular market share remains uncertain.
