The bid represents roughly a 28% premium to PayPal's most recent closing price and is supported by approximately $50 billion in committed financing.
The parties have indicated a target of reaching agreement by the end of July, though the material notes there is no certainty the transaction will be completed. Both acquirers have positioned themselves within the stablecoin and crypto payments space—Stripe has expanded into stablecoin infrastructure, while PayPal introduced PYUSD in 2023 and has grown into a major regulated stablecoin issuer.
No details have emerged regarding PayPal's response to the offer, board recommendations, regulatory considerations, or whether competing bids or alternative negotiations are underway.
