Bitwise launches first spot NEAR ETF, ticker NRR
Ecosystem ·
The fund gives US investors direct exposure to the NEAR blockchain through a listed exchange product, marking the first spot ETF built around the token.
Bitwise has launched a spot exchange-traded fund tracking NEAR, trading under the ticker NRR, according to a post. The product is described as the first spot NEAR ETF to reach the market, giving investors a regulated vehicle to gain exposure to the token without holding it directly. NEAR is characterized in coverage of the launch as a leading blockchain platform, and the ETF is positioned as a way to let investors participate in the broader cryptocurrency market through a familiar fund structure.
Multiple accounts of the launch describe it consistently: Bitwise brought the first US spot NEAR ETF to market under the NRR ticker, expanding institutional-style access to the network. One version of the launch notes it coincided with the ETF listing on the NYSE, alongside a separate market development involving a large NEAR holder — a wallet holding 5.84 million NEAR that was showing an unrealized gain of $15.5 million at the time. That holder detail is unrelated to the ETF's mechanics but was reported in the same window as the fund's debut.
The launch fits into a broader pattern of asset managers extending crypto ETF offerings beyond the largest tokens. Bitwise has for years built out a suite of crypto index funds and other vehicles, and the NEAR product adds a single-asset spot fund to that lineup, following a similar approach used for other tokens now covered by ETFs.
What remains unclear from current reporting is the fund's assets under management at launch, its fee structure, and how trading volume has developed since listing. It is also not established whether other issuers plan to file competing NEAR spot products, or how the large NEAR holder's position — separate from the ETF itself — might interact with market activity around the token going forward. Investors will likely watch early flow data and NEAR's price response as the clearest signals of institutional appetite for the new listing.
