Bitfinex Alpha identifies mid-to-late bear market characteristics in Bitcoin, with spot ETF outflows and stablecoin supply decline signaling weak crypto liquidity despite tailwinds from easing financial conditions.
Macro & Markets ·
Bitcoin has settled into a pattern consistent with mid-to-late bear market conditions, trading within a band defined by the long-term realized price at $52,699 and the short-term holder realized price at $67,176. Bitfinex Alpha identified the $63,200 median realized price as a near-term floor that has held over two weeks; failure to defend that level would expose the June trough of $57,803. Spot trading volume has compressed to levels unseen since early 2019, while on-chain transfer velocity has fallen to its lowest point in seven years, both signaling thin market depth and minimal participant engagement.
Despite recent improvements in U.S. inflation readings, easier financial conditions, and record equity valuations, these tailwinds have not yet penetrated crypto markets. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced $385.2 million in weekly net outflows, while stablecoin reserves declined approximately 4.5% from their May peak, reaching $300.7 billion. These flows suggest that fresh capital remains absent from the sector despite macroeconomic support.
The immediate focus rests on whether ETF inflows will stabilize and whether stablecoin supply will resume growth. Neither has yet materialized, leaving the question of when institutional and retail liquidity will re-enter the market unresolved.
