Bitcoin ETF inflows jump to $900M, best week since May
Macro & Markets ·
Weekly capital into US spot Bitcoin funds nearly quintupled from the prior week as institutional appetite picked up pace.
US-listed Bitcoin exchange-traded funds absorbed $900 million in net inflows last week, the strongest weekly total since early May, according to wublockchain.xyz. That figure represents a marked jump from the $197 million recorded the week before, pointing to a fast shift in fund flows rather than a gradual build.
iShares Bitcoin Trust, the largest fund in the category, accounted for much of the move, pulling in $193 million last week after taking in $282 million the week prior. The pace continued into this week, with the fund adding $115 million on Monday and $164 million on Tuesday, per wublockchain.xyz. Combined, those figures put IBIT's July total at $501 million, which would make it the fund's largest monthly intake since April and its third-largest month of the year so far.
The pickup lines up with broader daily flow data showing sustained demand across the sector. Spot Bitcoin funds took in $203 million on July 21, extending a six-day run of inflows, while spot Ethereum funds added $37.5 million the same day, according to chaincatcher.com. A day earlier, on July 20, Bitcoin and Ethereum funds logged $227 million and $38 million respectively, a signal that institutional capital was returning to the market after roughly two months of outflows.
Taken together, the weekly and daily figures describe a consistent pattern of renewed buying across both Bitcoin and Ethereum products rather than an isolated spike tied to a single fund or day. The six-day streak of Bitcoin inflows through July 21, paired with IBIT's rising monthly haul, suggests the shift in demand has held up over more than a single trading session.
What remains unclear is whether this inflow pace can be sustained into the rest of July or whether it reflects a short-term rebound following the preceding two months of outflows. Continued daily flow data for Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, along with IBIT's final monthly tally, will show whether the acceleration marks a durable change in institutional positioning or a temporary catch-up after a slower stretch.
