Physical gold-backed ETFs took in $17.9 billion during August, marking the second-highest monthly inflow ever recorded and lifting total holdings to a record 4,189 tonnes. Global assets under management in these funds climbed 16% month-over-month to $615 billion, the highest since February, with Europe accounting for $7.9 billion of the monthly intake and the UK alone receiving $4.4 billion. Through the first eight months of the year, gold ETFs have accumulated $29 billion in new money, corresponding to 160 additional tonnes added to their combined positions.
