AI Financial seeks to sell core payments business for up to $15M after massive token collapse linked to Trump family's World Liberty Financial project.

AI Financial, formerly known as Alt5 Sigma, is negotiating the sale of its core payments business to Tokyo-based blockchain firm Perpetuals com for as much as $15 million, according to reporting by The Wall Street Journal. The move follows the company's entry under the control of World Liberty Financial, a crypto initiative linked to the Trump family, and a subsequent $750 million capital raise devoted to acquiring WLFI tokens. The arrangement has coincided with sharp declines across both assets: WLFI tokens fell 70% while AI Financial's equity shed more than 90% of its value, leaving the company valued near $80 million.
The financial mechanics reveal substantial flows to Trump-connected entities. AI Financial's WLFI token purchases generated roughly $540 million in cash for Trump-related organizations, and the Trump family retains entitlement to 75% of WLFI token sale proceeds. These figures underscore the depth of financial integration between the company and the broader World Liberty Financial ecosystem.
The sale talks suggest AI Financial may seek to exit core operations amid the token collapse, though the status of negotiations remains unclear. Questions persist regarding the terms of any transaction with Perpetuals com, the broader strategic direction of AI Financial's remaining assets, and whether additional restructuring may follow.
