Polymarket's investigations team flagged hundreds of daily alerts and sent at least two cases to the CFTC regarding midterm election bet manipulation.

Polymarket's investigations division has reviewed "dozens" of midterm election bets for potential insider trading and manipulation, according to the firm's head of global intelligence and investigations. At minimum, two cases have been escalated to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The company deployed a surveillance system drawing on campaign finance records, crypto transaction data, and banking information that generates hundreds of daily alerts before voting, according to reporting on the investigation efforts.
The monitoring team, led by a former FBI official and crypto analyst who arrived in June, operates across both Polymarket's identity-verified U.S. exchange and its anonymous international platform. While users can trade without identification on the international arm, the surveillance chief indicated that crypto transactions rarely remain fully untraceable and that her team has not encountered cases where user identity could not eventually be determined. The system flags accounts meeting internal risk thresholds but the company declined to disclose the specific detection criteria.
What remains uncertain is how many of the hundreds of daily alerts result in formal investigations, the timeline for CFTC review of the two referred cases, and whether additional referrals have been made beyond the minimum two disclosed.
