Binance has gained regulatory approval to operate in the Philippines through a partnership with local firm Blockshoals Technologies Inc. The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission approved Blockshoals to test financial products and services within its regulatory sandbox, according to an announcement by Binance Co-CEO Yi He.
The arrangement involves a 90-day integration period during which Blockshoals will connect its systems with Binance, which is designated as its global crypto-asset service provider partner. Following successful integration and continued regulatory oversight, Blockshoals will execute its approved testing plan, allowing Philippine users to access services through the Binance platform.
The sandbox approval provides a defined testing window but leaves several operational details unclear. The specific regulatory requirements Binance and Blockshoals must satisfy beyond the 90-day period remain unspecified, as does whether sandbox success will lead to full market authorization or what compliance framework would govern any subsequent permanent operations in the Philippines.
