Binance has alerted users to a recent surge in phishing text messages that impersonate security notifications and employ shortened links to lure recipients into clicking, risking account compromise. According to the exchange, attackers craft these messages to appear as legitimate alerts, but Binance clarified it will never request users verify or secure accounts via SMS links.
The exchange outlined several protective measures users can deploy. Binance Verify can be used to authenticate official communications, while withdrawal address whitelisting and an anti-phishing code add layers of account security. Users who have already opened a suspicious link are advised to contact Binance Support through the official app without delay.
