Robinhood's UK arm added to FCA cryptoasset register
Regulation & Gov ·
Robinhood's UK entity has been placed on the Financial Conduct Authority's cryptoasset register, allowing it to offer certain crypto services under the country's existing anti-money laundering rules.
The registration was recorded on July 31, according to wublockchain.xyz. It permits Robinhood's UK division to operate crypto services under the current AML-based framework rather than a full standalone crypto license.
The move comes ahead of a broader UK regulatory regime for crypto assets that is expected to take effect in October 2027. That framework is set to replace or supplement the current AML-focused approach with more comprehensive rules for the sector.
Even with the FCA registration now secured, Robinhood will still need to obtain separate authorization once the October 2027 regime is in force, since the current listing does not automatically carry over into the new system.
The development is corroborated by other reporting describing the same approval, noting that Robinhood's UK division has gained regulatory clearance from the UK regulator, consistent with the FCA register update. Two distinct sources are tracking this cluster of coverage.
What remains unclear is the specific scope of crypto services Robinhood will offer under the current registration, and what additional requirements the FCA will impose once the 2027 regime takes effect. It is also not yet known how the transition between the AML-based framework and the new comprehensive rules will be structured for firms already on the register.
