Aviva launches £50M tokenised sterling liquidity fund share class on XRPL, bringing its total tokenised offerings to £86M.
RWA & Tokenization ·
Aviva Investors introduced a tokenised share class for its Sterling Liquidity Fund on the XRP Ledger on October 26, 2026, with £50m deployed by Aviva itself. This launch expands the firm's total tokenised asset offerings across sterling and dollar liquidity funds to above £86m. The underlying sterling fund, established in 2002, manages approximately £22 billion and remains the manager's flagship product, though the new tokenised class represents only the £50m investment disclosed.
The offering employs a digital-twin model where on-chain representations mirror positions in the conventional off-chain fund structure, preserving existing arrangements with custody held by The Bank of New York Mellon. Tokenised and traditional investors receive identical investment terms, risk exposure, liquidity access and regulatory safeguards. This follows Aviva's July 2026 dollar liquidity fund tokenised share class launch, extending the platform's reach to sterling-denominated holdings for eligible wallet holders.
Key operational questions remain unresolved. The announcement does not specify how wallet recovery, transfer approvals and reconciliation between the digital ledger and off-chain fund will be allocated among Aviva, custodian BNY Mellon, infrastructure partner Licuido and digital-asset custodian Komainu. Complete eligibility criteria for the new sterling class are not disclosed, though prospective investors must still complete standard know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering checks and access operates through directed distribution channels rather than open on-chain subscription.
