Securitize and Neuberger Berman have launched HINC, a tokenized high-income fund investing primarily in high-yield bonds with possible exposure to collateralized loan obligations and leveraged loans. The fund is accessible to eligible investors across Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche, and Sui blockchains. Neuberger Berman operates a fixed-income platform overseeing more than $230B in assets.
The deployment marks an expansion of tokenized finance beyond cash-like instruments into credit-bearing assets. Placing a fund on-chain can enhance distribution reach, asset transferability, data transparency, and settlement speed compared to traditional structures. However, tokenization of the wrapper does not alter the underlying credit dynamics—default risk, spread risk, liquidity risk, and portfolio composition remain tied to traditional fixed-income mechanics.
As real-world asset tokenization matures, the distinction between blockchain infrastructure improvements and credit risk management will become material. The rails modernize while the economics of credit exposure persist unchanged. Fund access remains subject to eligibility criteria and jurisdictional restrictions.
