Chainalysis reports task scammer lost over 60 BTC ($4.8M) after thieves drained three Ledger wallet addresses in coordinated theft.

A scammer operating a task-fraud scheme became one of the largest victims of the recent Ledger wallet thefts, losing over 60 BTC valued at approximately $4.8 million, according to Chainalysis. The stolen funds had been accumulated through a scam in which participants were recruited to create counterfeit sales and reviews for legitimate products, with victims later pressured to inject their own capital after fabricated account shortfalls appeared, ostensibly to unlock promised payments.
The scammer consolidated the illicit proceeds into three separate Ledger wallet addresses on September 22. On October 9, attackers executed a coordinated drain, emptying each address through individual transactions and routing all funds to a single receiving wallet flagged as holding stolen assets.
The incident underscores a broader vulnerability affecting Ledger users during the recent wave of wallet compromises. The specific attack vector against these three addresses and whether it exploited a common Ledger flaw or targeted this particular account remain unclear.
